When Del Shannon died back in 1990, I’m pretty sure that I wasn’t too phased by it. I was taken aback - and, of course, saddened - that he had committed suicide, especially at the relatively young age of 55, but from a purely self-centered point of view, his death didn’t affect my musical landscape very much.
