Complete your Deodato collection. Deodato 2 - Rhapsody In Blue ‎(Cass, Album).

Deodato 2 is a 1973 album of Brazilian keyboardist Eumir Deodato It features noted session guitarist John Tropea on 4 tracks and virtuoso bassist Stanley Clarke on one song, "Skyscrapers". His version of George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" was used in Pontiac commercials during the early-1970s. The song reached in Canada in 1973. The songs "Super Strut" and "Latin Flute" were featured on the soundtrack of the video game Grand Theft Auto Vice City

Deodato's debut for CTI, Prelude, earned him a genuine reputation for funky fusion with its groove-tight cover of "Thus Spake Zarathustra," the theme from Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. On 2, the Brazilian composer and arranger dips into the funked-up fusion formula tank once again, and comes out with a more consistent disc than its predecessor.

Keyboards - Eumir Deodato Bass - Stanley Clarke Drums - Billy Cobham, Rick Marotta Flute - Hubert Laws. Arranged and conducted by Eumir Deodato. Produced by Creed Taylor. Recorded at Van Gelder Studios, April 1973. My dad's second wife introduced me to jazz, and Deodato was one of the artists she listened to. They divorced long ago, and I didn't realize how cool she really was until long after that.

Original Album & SHM-CD Reissue Produced by Creed Taylor

For the very first time, 20 CTI titles from the 70s were released on SHM-CD format.
And, also for the first time ever, such albums were digitally remastered, in 2009, by the engineer who recorded most of them during the CTI heyday in the early 70s, Rudy Van Gelder, under the direct supervision of producer Creed Taylor.

The booklets preserve the original LP artworks, done mostly by the team of Pete Turner (front cover photos) and Bob Ciano or Tony Lane (album designers), adding new liner notes.

All previous CTI CDs released in Japan in the past 25 years had been remastered at King Studios by such Japanese engineers as Seiji Kaneko and Kuniaki Takahashi, sometimes under Arnaldo DeSouteiro's supervision; and all the CTI CDs released in the USA and Europe by Sony had been remastered by Tim Geelan and Mark Wilder.

SHM-CD (SUPER HIGH MATERIAL CD) was developed by JVC and Universal Music Japan
