World Party - Egyptology mp3 flac
Egyptology is the fourth studio album by World Party released in 1997, re-released in 2006. It contained the British single "Beautiful Dream" and the award-winning She's the One, among other songs. But the album was not a commercial success, and Karl Wallinger was upset when his label, Chrysalis, used "She's the One" as a vehicle for pop artist Robbie Williams; Williams' version hit on the British pop charts and won Williams several awards.
Egyptology (CD, Album, Promo). The Enclave, Chrysalis Records. Astray in a Vanity Town After a long silence World Party have begotten a wonderful album where every song shows refinement and melodiousness. And Vanity Fair is probably the best on the entire album: My, oh my, little girl, you should give just what you can. To the world, to your sister, to those arms of a loving man, to your bliss, to your future, to your memories and prayers, Cos it's cold and it's changing, yeh, this place called Vanity Fair.

Egyptology finds Wallinger at his most conservative, sticking to the basic late-'60s pop and psychedelia that distinguished Private Revolution and Goodbye Jumbo. As always, his production is tasteful and subtle, revealing new layers of sonic detail on each listen, and his songcraft is sturdy and tuneful, if not remarkable. Few of the songs jump out upon the first few listens, yet there are no weak moments on the record, which makes Egyptology, of all things, a workmanlike release.

World Party began as an outlet for the pop infatuations of vocalist and t Karl Wallinger, previously best known for his tenure with the Waterboys. Born October 19, 1957, in Prestatyn, Wales, Wallinger grew up enamored not only of the Beatles but also of the Motown and Merseybeat sounds, and made his professional debut in 1976 as a member of the group Quasimodo. After 1997's Egyptology, Wallinger took a three-year break from World Party, returning in 2000 with Dumbing Up. He suffered an aneurysm shortly after the record's release, resulting in a long and painful recovery period that found the artist unable to speak for a time. After regaining his motor skills, Wallinger returned to the studio and began work on a new record.
