Fat Boys is the self-titled first studio album by hip hop group The Fat Boys on May 29, 1984 by Sutra Records. Album was produced by rap legend Kurtis Blow. LP is dedicated to the memory of Rebecca Wimbely and William (Divine) Santos. Album peaked at number 48 on the US Billboard 200, and number 6 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart. The album was certified Gold by the RIAA on May 6, 1985.
The Fat Boys are a successful American hip hop trio from Brooklyn, New York City, that emerged in the early 1980s. For its 1987 album, Crushin', the Fat Boys made a cover version of The Surfaris' hit Wipe Out with The Beach Boys singing back-up vocals. The single made it to on the Billboard chart, and on the corresponding R&B listing. The Fat Boys also recorded a version of The Twist with Chubby Checker, who performed it originally in 1960. Manager Charlie Stettler was a Swiss National who had embraced hip-hop culture.

The fact is that they were among the best and most popular rappers of the mid-1980s. Cool J, and Whodini, the Fat Boys were the finest that hip-hop's "Second Generation" (as it was called) had to offer. After making some noise as the Disco Three, the rotund Brooklynites changed their name to the Fat Boys in 1984 and hit big with this excellent debut album, which is humorous, wildly entertaining, and unapologetically funky.
