Jackie McLean & Dexter Gordon - Montmartre Summit 1973 mp3 flac

Montmartre Summit 1973. CD - Steeplechase 37001/2). Alto saxophonist Jackie McLean and tenorist Dexter Gordon join forces for this live recording at the Montmartre Jazzhus in Copenhagen, taped over two nights in 1973. They're well accompanied by the Kenny Drew Trio (with Drew on piano, Niels Pedersen on bass and drummer Alex Riel). The chemistry between McLean and Gordon is obvious, as they are both at the top of their game and very comfortable taking extended solos, with most of the performances exceeding ten minutes and several approaching 20 minutes in length.

The Source is a live album by American saxophonist Jackie McLean featuring Dexter Gordon recorded at the Jazzhus Montmartre in 1973 and released on the SteepleChase label. Robert Christgau wrote in his 1977 column in The Village Voice that he preferred The Source to both McLean's The Meeting and Gordon's 1976 Homecoming if he wanted to "hear recent live Dexter".
