This album by the Brubeck Brothers-led by Chris and Dan Brubeck, sons of legendary pianist Dave the 60th anniversary of "President Eisenhower's Special International Program for Cultural Presentations," the 1958 State department tour in which prominent jazz musicians traveled to 14 countries to give 80 concerts in 90 days.

Brubeck Brothers Quartet: Timeline by Mike Jurkovic, published on May 30, 2018. Timeline is the Brubeck Brothers's infectious 60th anniversary celebration of their father's historic trip. The exotic sound of the doumbek, played by drummer Dan Brubeck, opens a feisty re-interpretation of "Blue Rondo a la Turk," the tune written by Brubeck Snr in response to the street music he heard in Istanbul during the tour.

TimeLine celebrates Dave Brubeck's Historic 1958 State Department Tour, and includes tunes written by Dave inspired by that tour, freshly re-arranged by the Brubeck Brothers Quartet, as well as new compelling compositions by Chris Brubeck, Chuck Lamb and Mike DeMicco. As Chris Brubeck writes, ‘2018 marks the 60th anniversary of the Dave Brubeck Quartet's historic State Department Tour as official Jazz Ambassadors for America. We wanted to celebrate that achievement and the impact that 80-concert Eurasian tour had on Dave’s music, American culture, the jazz world and our family. I've been following the Brubeck brothers quartet for quite a while and have seen them perform multiple times. Rather than riding on their father's coattails, they honor their father's great music. This CD is a tribute to Dave's famous state department Cold war trip in 1958.
