Pale Saints - Slow Buildings mp3 flac
Slow Buildings is a heartfelt album with a heavy edge. It's not dissonant or ironic, overall. The band might have been able to win newer fans in the rock business by playing it live, but didn't - besides me, I guess. Anyone revisiting the complete Pale Saints Discography will maybe notice a little bit missing from this album. However much Ian Master purists might scoff this album as a waste; it was however one of my most cherished.
Following the dark, experimental In Ribbons, Pale Saints returned to comparatively sunny sounds for Slow Buildings, their final studio album. There's still plenty of darkness to go around - most notably, there's ten-minute slow-burner "Henry", which rides a moody, churning bassline with organ accompaniment to a dramatic, funereal conclusion - but a good chunk of the album is spent returning to and refining the bright, upbeat sounds of their early singles
Pale Saint's third album finds them carrying on without Masters, who had previously written the bulk of the group's material. While his absence is noticeable, it's not disastrous. Slow Buildings is an album of competent pop like "Will You Be My Angel" and "Fine Friend" and some experimental instrumentals like "King Fade" and "Henry.
