Profile: This label (and also act) was founded by Wolfgang Voigt in the early 90s in Cologne. It was a series of ten records, which were made to explore the essence of minimal techno. Each of the records had a different color and each of them was made by and released on Studio 1. The tracks and the records had no names. Following these 10 releases, a CD compilation with some unreleased tracks was issued. After a lapse of silence (when Voigt spent time with some of his other projects) the act Studio 1 was reactivated. Studio 1 is the third studio album by English-Canadian girl group All Saints, released on 10 November 2006, by Parlophone. It was released following a five-year hiatus during which the bandmembers had pursued solo careers. The first single released from the album was "Rock Steady" which was released on 6 November 2006 and peaked at No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart. A second single, "Chick Fit" was a download-only release. The album debuted at No. 40 on the UK Albums Chart. It was certified Gold in the UK.
Gelb received the biggest critical and commercial success of his career with his Chore of Enchantment album in 2000. Gelb formed the first incarnation of Giant Sand (then, the Giant Sandworms) in 1980 with longtime friend Rainer Ptacek. Like most of the early lineups, however, the group didn't last long, undergoing the first of many personnel changes.
Therefore, on Studio 1, the third album by the quartet, All Saints shifted away from the music style that nostalgically kept them as has-beens. On Studio 1, listeners hear a more spurred dance version of the Saints, who've shifted their music to R&B, yet overlay it in striking layers of electric pop.
